LOS ANGELES — Actor James Ransone, widely recognized for his role as Ziggy Sobotka in the HBO series The Wire, has died at the age of 46, authorities confirmed.
According to records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office, Ransone died on Friday. The office listed the cause of death as suicide.
Ransone built a respected career across film and television, appearing in a wide range of projects over more than two decades. His film work included roles in It: Chapter Two, The Black Phone, and its upcoming sequel. On television, he appeared in series such as Bosch and Poker Face, showcasing his versatility as a character actor.
