Comedian and former ’90s TV star Andy Dick has admitted that his overdose on a Los Angeles street earlier this week happened after he smoked crack with a stranger — a confession he delivered in a chaotic, disheveled on-camera interview posted by TMZ on Wednesday.

TMZ first reported that the 59-year-old comic collapsed on a Hollywood sidewalk on Tuesday, prompting bystanders to shout for him to “wake up” as someone administered Narcan, an emergency drug used to reverse opioid overdoses.

In the follow-up video interview, Dick appeared alongside two friends — the same people who were with him during the overdose — and attempted to downplay the severity of the incident.

“Doesn’t it look like I’m 100 percent fine?” Dick joked, insisting he was “110 percent” OK.

But moments later, he described how he veered away from his friends, met a man on the street “his age,” felt sorry for him, and during their brief interaction the stranger “whipped out some crack.”

“And I’m like, I might need a little bit of that,” Dick admitted. “I don’t mind doing a little crack every now and then.”

He later clarified the man was “smoking something on tinfoil” before Dick asked him to “give me some.”

One of Dick’s companions told TMZ he ran to retrieve Narcan after realizing Dick had taken something dangerous during the brief moment he slipped away.

The other friend said he held Dick’s hand and begged him to think of his grandchildren as the comedian lay unconscious.

Dick acknowledged his two friends weren’t to blame — even noting that he encourages them to film everything.

“I get mad at him if he’s not recording,” Dick said.

A Troubled Career Marked by Addiction and Scandal

Andy Dick rose to fame in the 1990s with The Ben Stiller Show, later starring in the sitcom NewsRadio and launching The Andy Dick Show on MTV in 2001.

But his career has long been overshadowed by controversies and addiction:

  • He told VICE in 2016 he had been to rehab more than 20 times
  • In 2017 he was fired from two film roles in one month over allegations of groping, unwanted touching, and inappropriate behavior

Dick’s battles with drugs, alcohol, and misconduct accusations have made headlines for decades, turning the once-promising performer into one of Hollywood’s most troubled figures.

The Daily Beast reports that Dick’s representatives have not responded to requests for comment.
